Movie time?

Then you gotta watch this "documentary". Even if you're not that into street art, it's really worth watching. It's a very clever movie. I wouldn't expect anything but from Banksy. So yeah, see it!

#ThrowbackThursday- May 2012

One of the toughest times being an exile Swede, is when it's spring and summer in Sweden. All these beautiful pictures of flowers, sunshine, blue ocean and bbqs all over Instagram, FB and blogs are basically like torture. There is something very special about the Swedish summer. I love it and it's definitely one of the things I miss the most about Sweden (well apart from my family and friends of course).

It's 25 degrees, sunny and blue skies here in Melbourne today. I sit in my little study corner with a singlet on and the door wide open. It's pretty much like a Swedish summer day. Lovely!

So yeah, I thought I would make a #throwbackThursday post in honor of the Swedish summer. These pics are from May 2012...

And all you Swedes- Enjoy the spring and summer as much as you possibly can! :)

The bats....and a funny dog

Alrightie, so here they are- the bats.

There are millions and millions of bats in Melbourne. During the day you can find them sleeping in the trees along the Yarra. Some of them are huge, but don't worry they only eat fruit!

Hej hej från Melbourne

Hmm...not many updates from me lately. Too much to do and too little time to do them. That's the way I like it though.

I'm really busy with school work and the Harbor festival at the moment. I've also worked quite a lot, which makes my bank account happy. It's gonna be like this for the next month or so I believe. I've got about 4 week left of classes. Crazy!  I'm pretty stressed out about it, because it means that we only have 4 weeks left to complete all the work and prepare our final portfolios. Yiakes! Luckily, I don't have to stress out about final exams this time around. However, I guess it's just as stressful preparing portfolios though. The upside is that we get a few more weeks of holiday than the ones doing final exams. My holiday will be busy with completing the Photography course and preparing for the festival though.... No rest for the wicked, ey?! Haha. Hopefully, I will also have enough time to go on a little road-trip or two. I'm aching to go down to the Great Ocean Road. In particular, Apollo bay. It's my little piece of heaven in Australia.

In other news..

  • Went to see the new Ironman at IMAX. It was great! Definitely worth seeing at the movies.
  • Yesterday, I went to the Dog lover's show at the Royal exhibition building. I was a bit disappointed, because there were mostly companies there exhibiting their products and not so many dogs. I had hoped for more "live" dog activities, if you know what I mean. But hey, I got my dog-fix anyway. And a show bag full of doggie treats. I'll have to send them over to Blade. Hahaha!
  • Last Thursday, I went to a job interview. It felt really good. I don't think I could have done any better, so I'm happy. However, they did say that I was competing against candidates with lots more experience than me. It's always hard to compete against experience. All I can do is hope that my ambition, creativity and passion will make up for those year of experience that I don't have yet. It's a bit frustrating, because how can you get experience when you never get the chance to gain some? Oh well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
  • I got a new hairdo. And yes, it's quite dark. I really, really like it. My hair feels healthier and the darker hue brings out the colour in my eyes a lot more. I also think that my pale skin looks a lot better in combination with the chocolate brown tones.

Ok, I think that was it for now. I'll probably upload some of the pictures of the bats I took on Anzac day a little bit later on...

Peace, love & unity,

J

Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful

Lana del Rey's "Young & Beautiful" from the Great Gatsby soundtrack. Love it!

I've seen the world
Done it all, had my cake now
Diamonds, brilliant, and Bel-Air now
Hot summer nights mid July
When you and I were forever wild
The crazy days, the city lights
The way you'd play with me like a child

Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful
Will you still love me when I got nothing but my aching soul
I know you will, I know you will
I know that you will
Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful

I've seen the world, lit it up as my stage now
Channeling angels in, the new age now
Hot summer days, rock and roll
The way you'd play for me at your show
And all the ways I got to know
Your pretty face and electric soul

Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful
Will you still love me when I got nothing but my aching soul
I know you will, I know you will
I know that you will
Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful

Dear lord when I get to heaven
Please let me bring my man
When he comes tell me that you'll let me
Father tell me if you can

Oh that grace, oh that body
Oh that face makes me wanna party
He's my sun, he makes shine like diamonds

Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful
Will you still love me when I got nothing but my aching soul
I know you will, I know you will
I know that you will
Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful
Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful
Will you still love me when I'm not young and beautiful

Long time, no see

Well hello there,
long time no see!

I've been flat out with school, work and trainings. In addition, the Internet has been totally freakin' crap. It's been like sitting on one of those old-school dial-up modems. Imagine the frustration!

So what else? Hmm, well the hunt is on for a new home. The reason being that the bar is getting renovated and refurbished, so this apartment has to be cleared out. Not the best of news, I guess. The location and the low rent has been bloody fantastic. However, not much can be done about the situation, so it's just a matter going out there and find a new place. The sad thing is that it means that I will not be as close to school anymore. There is no way to afford to stay in the area being a student. It's crazy pricey here in Fitzroy.

Speaking of other things...

Today is Anzac day here, which is a public holiday. Anzac day is basically celebrated in memory of all Australian soldiers (diggers), who died in combat in service of their country. It's kinda a big deal here.
I spent my Anzac day going on a massive bike ride along the Yarra river, taking photos of the bats and catching up with Raechel, Lana, Kendra, Jack and Tashie. This evening, me and Nathan are going to IMAX to see the new Ironman. Should be awesome!

Have a great Thursday and Anzac day, kiddos!

Result

This is the final result of the Paint it black assignment. We were supposed to create a narrative using only semiotics (symbols/signs) based on the song "Paint it black" by the Rolling Stones.

I focused my flags on the five stages of grief- denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance, because that was my personal emotional response to the song.

Anyways, the picture doesn't do them justice, but I'm very happy with my flags. The filthy carpet is not best backdrop. Haha! I presented my project at class last night and I think I did alright!

YEY, the first of the major assignments is done!

My weekend through the iPhone

It was a lovely weekend i Melbourne. Sunny, blue skies and about 26 degrees. Pretty much like a Swedish summer day. Just perfect if you ask me!

However, I didn't get to enjoy the outdoors too much as I had a whole lot of studying to do and then I worked both Friday and Saturday night. I did have time to train though, which was great.

The heart above is part of one of the assignments I was working on this weekend.

We ended up going out for a few drinks after work on Saturday night (morning). I had a great time! Above is Xavier, Loz and Fran.

Nathan

Dawn and Marlowe

On Sunday, it was still warm but rainy. It didn't matter much to me though. In fact, it was kinda cosy to sit inside and study while the rain was pouring down outside the window...

I ended the weekend with popcorn and the classic 80s vampflick "The Lost Boys".

Not a bad weekend, not a bad weekend at all!
